Sat, 20th Oct, 2012. Butoh workshop with Yumino Seki

Outlet Arts is hosting a Butoh workshop in the GTAC space at 7 Water Row. Book now for early bird price!

Yumino Seki is a Japanese Butoh practitioner based in the U.K. Collaborating with artists from diverse disciplines has given her a broad approach to her movement practice.

A Point of Transformation is a Butoh workshop based on a somatic approach. Reconnecting the mental, physical and emotional body, this workshop explores unique individual expression. Using sensory experience as guidance you will make an enquiry into the transformative nature of the body where process becomes the work itself.

BRIEF

Brief is a group hosted by Outlet Arts that meets on the 2nd Wednesday of every month.

Every month we decide on a creative challenge or brief for the following meeting. We then share with the group what we made, discovered along the way and our thought process behind the work.  Any outcomes are welcome – whether you have brought an initial idea or a fully fledged piece to the table.

The group is open to artists from any discipline and we actively encourage members to work with different medias.  The meetings also present the opportunity to share influences and information, have discussions on practice and gain feedback from the group.

We created Brief so that artists don’t feel that they are always working in isolation; to try and find a way to foster dialogue and share knowledge. We wanted an informal forum to be stimulated by other people’s ideas and work outside our comfort zone.

Brief is currently open for new people to come on board. If you are interested please email us at outletarts@gmail.com.

Neptunalia – 23rd July

When Outlet Arts found out about the ancient pagan festival Neptunalia, we thought it was a perfect excuse to have a massive party, as well as catch up with all the lovely people who supported us at Outlet Arts’ launch night.

Neptunalia is an introduction and a welcome in to our amazing new space in Govan. We want to talk to people about future projects; possible collaborations, but most of all we want to make this night an experience!

As well as showing films and a little bit of performance from Glasgow’s up-and-coming practitioners, we’ve decided to truly get into the spirit of worshipping Neptune, the God of the sea, as well as calling on the spirit of Glasgow’s very own water God – The Clyde. Be prepared for a night of Glasgow style spirituality and rituals.

Outlet Arts – a much needed artist’s space in Glasgow.

Welcome!

Outlet Arts is here to help young and emerging artists in the Glasgow area by providing an affordable space in which to work in. We focus on those in the performing and film based arts where a reasonably sized space is essential for doing rehearsals, workshops or filming.

We are currently one of the resident organisations at 4th Floor, 7 Water Row, Govan, Glasgow where we share the space as part of Glasgow Theatre Arts Collective.  This space can be used flexibly by our members to advance their creative projects and skills.

In addition to giving access to this space we also run events and workshops and hope to build a community of artists who can help each other out. Together we can open up more avenues and find solutions for artists.

Please get in touch at outlet.arts@gmail.com for more information or if you are interested in becoming a member.
